Day 2 - The fun-fun-fun of the autobahn

With the sound of I’ll Never Get a Scrumpy Here by the Wurzels whirling around our minds, Rosemary Ford - Scottish registered - powered her way along the Dutch and German road system some 414 miles to Bamburg.

Yes, she finished the day with a squirrel-like squeak (Ger: Fluffenshaft irritantnoizen) but that’s why we are calling this Day Two - it sounds more of an achievement.

As we waited at border control, we were asked by an official if we had Scottish passports. Jim parped and swore at a motorcyclist trying his luck in Europoort, then fell asleep… twice.

As we left the autobahn, we enjoyed our first game of pizza oven or chapel.

Once in Bamberg we decided to have some delicious and almost refreshing Rauchbier.

Smoky, smooth and highly sought-after, my name is Craig.

Tomorrow, Czechia and a marathon stint for the Manic Mondeo team. Again, beer was prominent at the end of the day, but we’ll endeavour to do better tomorrow.

Craig: Autobahn by Kraftwerk moments after we left our six-hour run on the autobahn

Ian: 99 Luftballons by Nena as we entered Germany
